Testimonials
My husband and I had our wedding at Settlers Ghost Golf Club on Friday July 29, 2011 at 7:00 p.m.
Lana & Staff "On behalf of the staff, volunteers and families at Seasons Centre for Grieving Children, and the members of the Healing Hearts Golf Committee we want to express our sincere appreciation to Settler's Ghost Golf Club's staff and team. Their generous support and guidance at our 14th Annual Healing Hearts Golf Tournament on Thursday June14th, 2012 helped raise an amazing $29,700 this year. The golfers were treated to a unique “Country Jamboree Theme” that included 18 holes of golf, cart raffle, putting contest, card game and silent & live auctions. The flexibility, creativity and friendliness of the club's staff; and their willingness to go above and beyond their regular job description ensured the amazing success of our golf tournament this year." With Sincere Appreciation Settlers Team Our wedding was one the more beautiful days of the year, and the setting of Settlers' Ghost made it even more so for both us and our guests. The staff at Settlers' were very helpful and accommodating throughout the process leading up to the wedding, and the day itself. The groomsmen and I enjoyed a round of golf, and the nearby, Carriage Ridge was very beneficial to transport our guest to and from our wedding and reception. The landmarks such as the barn and beautifully laid out course made our photos priceless and even more stunning than we could have anticipated. It truly was an amazing experience, and Settlers' Ghost made it more so. Truly,Dave & Dionne Thomson Mary-Pat I was saving this to tell you in person BUT..........I had played with the day ladies at Lake St. George, before your lesson and I will not tell you my score but I will tell you that a week later after your lesson I dropped 22 stokes. Needless to say "it was the topic of conversation".............So maybe it was meant to be that we meet next on the 22nd. AHAHAHAHAHAHAH Thanks betz
"You have created a sense of collective consciousness among your team at Settlers’ Ghost. Everyone seems to be pulling in the same direction with a sense of purpose and belonging. This can be very challenging to create and you have pulled it off. Every member of your team was quite helpful, kind, courteous and knowledgeable. Congratulations!!” Mark Young Are you looking for a unique golf experience? Do you want to be treated like royalty? Would you like to feast on a wide range of house specialties while seated on the covered deck sipping a fine local wine? Trust me, you will need the wine as you and your playing partners recovery from the challenge of Settlers Ghost Have your A game and a willingness to test it, or if you simply need your handicap increased. Quick undulated greens, elevated and sloped fairways, hazards, trees, and breathtaking views.... and even then the best thing about Settlers Ghost are the people who run it. Lorna Miedema "What a great playable course. You have taken a spectacular piece of land and created a golf course that can be enjoyed by every level of player. I like the fact that you provide generous landing areas off the tee. The carefully designed greens provide the ability to set pins that make Settlers” a true test. A true jewel on an historic site". Doug Stone “Recently I had the pleasure of participating in a Pro-Am at Settlers’ Ghost Golf Club. Our hosts Lana Bertram and Mary-Pat Quilty arranged accommodation at your marvelous resort, Carriage Ridge. My first impression when driving from Settlers’ Ghost to your resort was the proximity of the two facilities. There is nothing much nicer than having only several minutes to travel for a tee time. Upon arriving at the condo, I was amazed at the scope of the facility and then learned that I was only seeing one half of it as the Carriage Hills Resort is just a little further up the road. The one bedroom Jacuzzi suite was just gorgeous: beautifully appointed with a complete kitchen, spacious living area including furnished balcony and gas fireplace. Thank you/merci for a wonderful weekend and I look forward to my next visit to and golf holiday at your resort and Settlers’ Ghost, a most superb combination of fun and relaxation.” Former LPGA Player "We found the evening to be a perfect blend of welcoming hospitality and exquisite cuisine; combined with an opportunity to sample and come to appreciate some great Canadian wines. The warm and relaxing ambiance contributed as well to make this an evening to remember." Case DeJong “There is no better place in my mind to hold our annual Bill Stoddart Memorial, Elmvale Lions Club tournament. Down to the smallest details, The Settlers Ghost Team goes above and beyond to ensure all participants experience a first-rate day. The team's efforts play a large part in the success of the tournament and for that I am grateful! “ Murry Truax, “To Lana Bertram and her team at Settler’s Ghost you get a great big “ATTA BOY” for a truly well run FIRST RATE Event. The small touches like announcing our names and place of residence prior to tee off and the piper all added to make this probably the FINEST small tournament that I have attended.” Art Trojan Golf Panelist and Writer Score Golf As a resident of the Huronia region and the author of four volumes of The Great Golf Courses of Canada, I have to think there are few other observers more qualified to comment on golf in my own backyard. For the more than 20 years that I have been writing about golf, I have been advocating the gospel of "affordability and accessibility." Settlers' Ghost illustrates the veracity of that phrase. The founders obviously set out with a mission: To develop a fair golf course, playable by golfers of all abilities, at a reasonable cost, with a low-key, hospitable atmosphere. They succeeded Less than an hour north of Toronto, Settlers' Ghost is the prototypical modern golf course. Of sensible length and difficulty, it offers a pleasant outing for beginners and serious recreational golfers, while challenging some of the best players in the world. As testimony, the Royal Canadian Golf Association has selected it as one of only four stops on the CN Canadian Women's Tour two years in a row. Only a few minutes from Barrie, one of Canada's fastest-growing cities, Settlers' Ghost presents a rare opportunity. Whether you stay across the road at the full-service Carriage Hills Resort, or choose to drive to and from Barrie, with its high-end restaurants, hotels, and shopping, you will experience a memorable vacation. Whatever your decision, I guarantee you will not be disappointed. John Gordon, |
