The junior clinics will have a maximum of 8 pupils per coach. This allows the coaches to reach all of the juniors, and offer more personal attention.

The more advanced junior golfers are encouraged to join the junior team and league, where they can compete in 9 and 18-hole events with other accomplished golfers. The team will participate in weekly practice and instructional sessions. Instruction on the finer points of the game will be given during these sessions.

Family League

Settlers’ Ghost is committed to offering local families an opportunity to play golf. This unique league allows families to play and learn golf together inexpensively. Parents are encouraged to join their sons and daughters in a friendly game of golf weekly. Uncles, aunts, parents, or grandparents are welcome to join the family league with their junior. Any Junior golfer may join the Family league on his or her own.

Joining Fee: $30 ($28.57 + gst) The joining fee is for weekly pirzes and the year-end banquet.

Tee times for the family league start at 6:00 pm. League members should arrive at Settlers' Ghost no later that 5:30 pm. Junior League members are encouraged to take the spring clinic session beginning on May 13. The family league round will follow the clinic session.

Juniors in the Family League will be paired with stronger and weaker players every week, and will be educated on the rules of golf and different forms of the game. Parents or Grandparents in the Family League will be paired with their junior golfer most weeks and occasionally with other junior golfers or parents. All of the games included in the program are based on individual stroke play, but also provide a fun aspect, and yet still allow some competition. All family league members are encouraged to participate in five educational sessions on rules and etiquette from 5:30 to 6:00 pm Tuesdays on May 6, June 17, 24, August 12, 19.

To help wrap up the Family League Settlers’ Ghost is hosting a Junior / Senior Golf Tournament on Tuesday, August 12. The day will include prizes & a b-b-q on the patio. The cost for this event is $85 per team. All league, clinic, team, and junior members are encouraged to ask an adult to partner them in this fun event.

Settlers’ Ghost Junior Membership

Cost: $498 ($475 + GST)

A junior member enjoys unlimited golf and can book a tee time 48-hours in advance. Junior tee times are available anytime Monday through Thursday, and after one pm on weekends and holidays.

Settlers’ Ghost Junior Team

Time: May, June, September – 4:45 to 5:30 p.m.

The junior team will meet for 15 coaching sessions with the Settlers’ Ghost professional staff. Each coaching session will be followed by 9 (when in school) or 18 (summer holidays) holes of competitive golf. The 2008 Junior Team will play in fourteen 18-hole tournaments on the Bags Junior Tour. There are 14 courses in and around the Simcoe area on the rotation. The Bags Junior tour membership fee is $80 + gst. The entry fee for each 18-hole junior tournament is $40 ($50 for the season ending Tournament of Champions) and includes a green fee, prizes, and lunch. When playing at Settlers’ Ghost on June 8 at 1:30 pm Junior Team members pay only $15.00 for lunch and prizes.

This year a ladder tournament is organized for all the juniors at Settlers’ Ghost. Juniors are eligible for this tournament if they are full members or junior team or league members. The names of players ranked from one to fifteen will be listed after the first medal stroke play event of the 2008 season. Players ranked in the top fifteen may challenge any player three positions above his or her own. If the challenger wins his or her match he or she takes that players position and all the other players are ranked one position lower.

If a player does not appear on the top fifteen ranking list he or she may challenge any player on the list outside of the top five. The junior who wins the ladder tournament receives a $250 credit toward a 2009 full junior membership. Handicaps will come into consideration for this tournament. The golf professionals at Settlers’ Ghost will help junior member’s track their handicaps through the GAO system.

Settlers’ Ghost Junior Golf Camp includes instruction on all aspects of the game of golf, including proper technique for a variety of shots, and golf etiquette and rules. On-course instruction happens each day, including supervised 9-hole playing lessons. Campers are provided with snacks and drink each day. There is a fun 9-hole tournament followed by lunch and prizes on Friday.
